It can be difficult, but it is not impossible to pursue one’s career in the entertainment industry abroad. “Determination leads to success” goes a popular adage. While going around visiting diasporas in the entertainment industry, we came across one determined individual in stockholm: LIINX, who is preparing to release his latest album “ManduMandu”.

During this tour, we learned that there will be an entertainment storm in Stockholm on the 13th of July 2019.  Some entertainment icons in the Diaspora of Stockholm such as: DJ Mike; DJ Georges; Queenie and Lenny Ville are going to light up Stockholm.  Before we see it burning, we thought it is a good idea to know more about the main wood that will be in the fire.

I am inspired by our daily lives. I try to make sure I represent my roots.

Who is Liinx?

I am a songwriter, rapper, singer, performing artist and a native of the Manyu division in the Southwest Region of Cameroon. I grew up in Kumba where I did all my education until high school and then I left for Dchang, where I did my University studies in Dschang.  After university I return to Kumba where I worked with the Ocean radio and later on the  Lake site radio. After a few years with the radio, I moved to Douala where I worked with DBStv until I traveled to Sweden in 2009.

How did you get into music?

My connection with music started a long time ago but officially, I will say 2015 when I released ”Ashia”. From then, I have been releasing music regularly.

Where can one find your songs?

All my songs are available for download and streaming on all legal online platforms like iTunes, Google play store, Spotify, Deezer, Youtube etc.

What’s cooking at the moment in your musical career?

I will be releasing an album ”Mandu Mandu” meaning “gently” in the kenyang language on the 5th of July 2019. That will be followed by the release party on 13 July 2019 in Stockholm. The album will be available on all online platforms as of the release date and after that videos of songs from the album will also be released.

What are the challenges that you face as a Cameroonian artist abroad and how are you coping with that?

As a Cameroonian artist abroad the biggest challenge is staying connected to the roots and the Cameroonian sound. To solve that I travel a lot. I do almost all of my productions back home in Cameroon and I make sure all my releases are aired on radios and TVs. Also, I try to make sure that the bloggers know about them so they can inform the masses.

What is important to you when you plan for your music production?

As an artist I believe it’s important to make music that talk to the people. Music with subject matter the people can relate to. I also try to make sure I represent my roots enough. That’s very important to me.

What inspires your creativity?

Our daily lives inspire all my music. Simple but complex subjects that are sometimes not very easily talked about. They can easily be sung about.

What are you doing when you are not doing music?

When am not doing music, I try to be Tabot Perpcy, being with my family.

What advise do you have for your colleagues in the music industry?

To my colleague, I will advice that they stay real and sort for deep subject matter in music for that is the kind of music that lasts. Trendy music is good but it fades away fast. Music is a powerful tool. So we should try to use it to empower our followers.

We have heard from the horses mouth. Thank you very much LIINX for receiving Mix Film Entertainment.
